Born Aldridge, Staffordshire, England, 1800; died Hobart, Tas., 30 Oct. 1877
A lawyer, married Mary Morton Chapman in 1826 and came to Van Diemen's Land on 11 Dec. 1831.
Farmed unsuccessfully at Black Brush, then set up law practice in Hobart with G.Cartwright & later J.Roberts.
He lived at Aldridge Lodge, with 5-acre garden. Assisted at botanical garden. His wife Mary Morton (née Chapman) (1806-95) painted miniatures & wildflowers around Hobart.
