School teacher in Eyre Peninsula in the mid 1960s.
He did a BSc Hons in 1968 at Adelaide University.
He spent a couple of years researching human pysiology (arteries).
Then spent 15 "glorious" years as a patrol officer in Milne Bay Province in PNG.
He returned to Queensland, and did a course in librarianship.
He then then worked for the Department of Primary Industries (Qld), including a few years in the Botany Department library (now the Queensland Herbarium library)
He then worked in in the Animal Research Institute library.
And then he retired.
But started work again for a few more years for the Department of Health in the Forensic Sciences library.
In retirement he grows plants in a caged garden safe from possums and brush turkeys and at every chance gets out with the Queensland Naturalists Club and with the Queensland Mycological Society.
He has had a lifelong interest in sailing 'Mirror Class' yachts.
Most of his plant collecting was undertaken in the 1960s.
