Wednesday 6 NovemberBushland on Life SupportRemnant vegetation and the quality of life.Australia is currently facing some major environmental
issues relating to changes in the extent and composition of native
vegetation. We face many scientific challenges in dealing with these
issues, and this talk highlights some of the relevant research currently
underway at the Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research. It briefly
covers what has happened to the bush and its consequences since european
settlement and then focus on native remnant vegetation and how to
manage it. The talk finishes by highlighting how revegetation can
be done more effectively by making use of relationships between plants
and soil organisms. The lecture slides from this presentation are available as web pages or as full Powerpoint Presentation [76,590 K]
